Fracking for oil and gas causes large amounts of radioactive material to be brought up to the earth’s surface, where it poses serious health threats that are not being properly addressed by regulators or the industry. The wastewater that is produced contains radium that has a half-life of 1600 years and it is being wantonly released into the environment. Unbelievably, the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) is considering allowing it to be imported into the Watershed for discharge. We, the watershed community, can fight this foolhardy and threatening proposal by participating in the upcoming DRBC rulemaking this fall. Please join us to learn the facts that will arm us to win a FULL Frack Ban!

Justin Nobel, Featured Speaker

As Justin wrote in his 2020 expose of fracking’s radioactivity, “There is little public awareness of this enormous waste stream, the disposal of which could present dangers at every step — from being transported along America’s highways in unmarked trucks; handled by workers who are often misinformed and under protected; leaked into waterways; and stored in dumps that are not equipped to contain the toxicity. Brine has even been used in commercial products sold at hardware stores and is spread on local roads as a de-icer.” https://bit.ly/3kKAkIN
