The Delaware Riverkeeper Network champions the rights of our communities for a Delaware River and tributary streams that are free-flowing, clean, healthy, and abundant with a diversity of life.
1,200 American Eels were released into the Pickering Creek earlier today as part of an effort to reduce the impact of invasive crayfish in the stream. The Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and United States Geologic Survey are partners in the effort to bring the migratory fish back to the Pickering. Eels play an important role in the health of streams.
Maya K. van Rossum has served as the Delaware Riverkeeper and leader for the Delaware Riverkeeper Network since 1994.
