The Atlantic Sturgeon’s Last Baby Shower

The Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Waterspirit, and Saddler's Woodss Conservation Association cordially invite you.

On June 29th and 30th, from 10-2 pm on the lawns of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Mama Sturgeon and her babies will come ashore for what could be their very last baby shower before they migrate downstream in what could be one of the last spawning seasons.                 All updates and information can be found on www.dinointhedelaware.org

In lieu of gifts, Mama Sturgeon asks that you attend the baby shower and sign the postcard to our targeted government officials urging the critical protections needed to bring this genetically unique population of Atlantic sturgeon back from the brink of extinction. There will be photo opportunities with Mama Sturgeon and her babies to spread the word that the Atlantic Sturgeon of the Delaware River need greater protections now or risk extinction in our lifetime.

In the fall we held a funeral for the endangered, genetically unique, population of Delaware River Atlantic sturgeon as we mourned them being pushed to the brink of extinction. As we enter the spring season, when Atlantic sturgeon typically spawn and migrate, we are hosting what could be the very last baby shower for our imperiled sturgeon. With less than 250 spawning adults left, we continue to call upon government agencies to prioritize the protection of our unique sturgeon rather than shirking this responsibility and lining the pockets of industry through lax regulations and permitting increasingly more industrial development projects.
