Listen to our featured guests tell their personal stories about living through the fracking of Pennsylvania’s shale regions. Two residents from western Pennsylvania communities whose families have been impacted by fracking and its activities will share with you the unvarnished and tragic truth.
What happens when fracking and its wastewater is let loose into people’s water and air? What happens to communities and the environment when all those chemicals and radioactivity are released from fracking operations? What can we do about stopping the spread of fracking wastewater and its toxic impacts?
Join us to hear and discuss this unfolding fracking disaster in Pennsylvania.
Special guests are Janice Lee Blanock who will share her story of her family’s loss of their son to Ewing’s Sarcoma and Lois Bower-Bjornson, who conducts Frackland tours in her region. Both are from Washington County, the most heavily fracked county in the Commonwealth.
The Delaware River Basin Commission will propose regulations by November 30 that either will ban the import of frack wastewater into the Delaware River Watershed and ban the export of water for fracking elsewhere or will allow it. Despite the ban on fracking adopted by DRBC in February of this year, they are still considering allowing the pollution and depletion from fracking activities to occur. We want a FULL ban that completely prohibits the import of frack wastewater for storage, processing, disposal and discharge in the watershed and a ban on the withdrawal and export of the Delaware River Watershed’s water to frack up other communities, an unethical and cynical proposal. It is crucial that the DRBC Commissioners—the Governros of PA, NJ, NY, and DE and President Biden’s federal representative from the Army Corps—who will be voting on the full ban hear the truth about the health effects from fracking operations.
