Citizen participation is critical to ensuring protection and proper management of the Delaware River. So, the Delaware Riverkeeper Network Awareness-to-Action program provides citizens with the information and tools they need to make a difference for the River. Specifically, people learn about watershed ecosystems, acquire skills to have a meaningful impact on environmental decision-making, and develop confidence in their abilities to apply these newly acquired skills.

DRN employs a wide range of tools to move citizens from burgeoning Awareness to Action. They include informative membership materials, publications, motivational and informative presentations, special topic workshops, hands-on training with DRN projects, and networking events.

DRN created the Schuylkill Watershed Congress in 1997 to raise awareness of the watershed concept, offer training opportunities, and foster important interdisciplinary partnerships for watershed protection and restoration. The program addresses a wide range of topics, offers introductory, intermediate and advanced training opportunities as well as hands-on presentations and field trips.
