The Delaware Riverkeeper Network is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Delaware River, its tributaries and habitats. Operating on the belief that the best line of defense against damaging resource management is with informed and active communities backed by strong law and science, DRN empowers citizens to take more active roles in protecting the streams and creeks that flow through their neighborhoods while working to secure stronger laws and regulations to protect them. Every issue, every advocacy effort involves a partnership between the Delaware Riverkeeper, DRN experts and concerned communities.

DRN:

  • Works proactively for strong water quality regulations for the mainstem river and tributary streams;
  • Advocates for strong toxics reduction regulations for the Delaware Estuary, including challenging opposition from a coalition of companies that discharge into the River;
  • Fights for a protective zone along the Delaware River and its tributary streams including in the wild and scenic reaches of the upper Delaware as well as the lower reaches from Washington Crossing on down;
  • Works to secure strong stormwater management regulations at the State level as well as for individual development projects;
  • Defends against dangerous operations such as the Army’s proposal to dump chemical weapons waste into the River and the operation of power plants that needlessly kill billions of fish a year;
  • Challenges harmful dam, dredging, and stream piping projects on the main stem as well as tributaries.
