Hatfield Stormwater Management Talk

Poorly managed or inadequate stormwater management often results in local flooding of neighborhoods and downstream communities, fishkills, algal blooms and excessive erosion along the creeks and streams. While some communities are starting to become pro-active by installing raingardens and green roofs and planting trees, there is still a lot more that can and should be done.

The Delaware Riverkeeper Network’s Fred Stine will be discussing these problems, as well as some solutions in identifying additional opportunities for more projects. Local creek flooding and water quality problems stem from hundreds, if not thousands, of different areas throughout our communities.  While some of those problems will certainly be very expensive to fix, many very effective projects can be implemented at low cost. The Delaware Riverkeeper Network is planning a riparian buffer restoration project and a stormwater management driving tour.
