New York Governor Cuomo is expected to decide at any moment about whether to lift the moratorium on fracking in the State by issuing the draft environmental study the state is doing and the fracking regulations that are under review.

This means New York may release its Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Study (SGEIS) on fracking without conducting a comprehensive and publicly accessible analysis of the threats to human health, without full review of all the environmental impacts and economic implications, and without addressing longstanding and potentially catastrophic deficiencies in how New York regulates gas drilling.

We have a few days before New York will face statutory deadlines on the SGEIS and draft fracking rules so let's use them by impressing on the Governor that New Yorkers do not want fracking! If Governor Cuomo hears from enough people at these events it is possible democracy and good sense will prevail and the inadequate and incomplete proposed reviews and regulations will expire -- missed deadlines will mean the opportunity for a fresh start and essential missing analyses such as a human health assessment, cumulative environmental analysis and comprehensive economic/social analyses can be done.

There are numerous events planned throughout New York's shale and urban areas focusing on this issue and the Pledge to Resist Fracking that many New Yorkers have signed.
