Our state legislators want our vote this fall – they need to hear loud and clear what’s wrong with what they’ve been doing in Harrisburg this year.  They’ll all be back in Harrisburg next week, let’s greet them.

Say what they did wrong:
  • Passage of Act 13 which illegally took away local control from municipalities of all gas extraction operations, including drilling, waste pits, pipelines, compressor stations, and more.  Act 13 gives oil and gas companies to right to drill virtually anywhere and everywhere.
  • An 11th hour political deal jammed in the state budget that set up a weak drilling moratorium for just parts of southeast Pennsylvania.  This ‘moratorium’ requires no environmental studies and could end up not protecting any residents at all.  And it ignores the need for a statewide moratorium to stop the pollution and degradation that communities and the environment are suffering where gas drilling and fracking is occurring.

Come to Harrisburg and let your legislators know – we need local control over the oil and gas industry, and we need a real moratorium for the state.  Everyone has been affected by the gas industry, and everyone deserves equal protection.

Speakers include: Municipal officials, legislators, DRN’s Tracy Carluccio, Karen Feridun of Berks Gas Truth, Jeff Schmidt of PA Sierra Club.
