November 20 and 21st 2011 Don’t Drill the Delaware Day of Action & Non Violence Training Lodging Options, Public Transit, Busing to the Rally, and Carpool Link Location of Non Violence Training – 6:30pm Sunday Night November 20th Trenton Quaker Meeting House 142 East Hanover Street Trenton, NJ 08608 Location of Rally – November 21, 2011 – Meet up at 11:00 am on the steps Patriots Theater /Trenton War Memorial 1 Memorial Drive Trenton, NJ 08608 (609) 984-8484 Housing Options for November 20, 2011 (the night before the November 21st Action) Delaware Riverkeeper Network is arranging solidarity housing for guests coming from out of town and for people wanting to stay overnight in Trenton on November 20th after attending the Non Violence Training at 8pm. There are several options to choose from. Please register early if you need a free place to stay so we can plan accordingly. Option A) The Trenton Quaker Friends Meeting House (where the Non Violence Training will be held) and a nearby Presbyterian Church is available for overnight guests (bring your sleeping bags pads, hand towels as this is floor space and communal space – running hot water but no showers). If you are not arriving on a bus, reserve a space by emailing your contact info to housing@delawareriverkeeper.org with Trenton Quaker House in the subject. If you are arriving on a bus, your bus captain can arrange lodging for all bus passengers on the bus by emailing us the number on the bus who need floor space. Option B) There is a block of discounted rooms for rent at the Marriot Hotel which is next door to the Trenton War Memorial. Rooms are $89/room plus tax. Rooms must be reserved by 11/11 for the discount rate. Get on A Bus for Clean Water or Set up a Car Pool Event in Your Community Join one of the many buses leaving from areas from around the region and beyond where local groups are organizing bus stops. Buses are being organized from all four Basin states including PA, NJ, NY and DE. Cost of seats varies depending on the location but in general seats are $20. Buses will leave the Trenton War Memorial at about 3:00 pm after the action. Public Transportation Options: Trenton Transit Center 72 South Clinton Avenue Trenton, NJ 08609 The Trenton Transit Center is conveniently located a taxi ride away or 20 minute walk (about 1 mile) from the Trenton War Memorial. Taxi fares range from $4-8 dollars depending on tip and traffic. The distance from the Trenton Transit Center to the Quaker Meeting House where the non violence training will be held the night before is a 12 minute walk or about a half mile walk from the train station. Intercity buses are available that access the Harrisburg Transit center they Include: Greyhound lines, Bieber Tourways, Fullington Trailway, and Susquehanna Trailways. Greyhound offers intercity bus services to Philadelphia from the Harrisburg station.
Parking In Trenton
Here are some other Trenton Parking Authority public lots: Liberty Commons, 16 E. Front Street: 8 minute walk to War Memorial. See map: http://g.co/maps/tv2dz. You could also deviate from the suggested walking route and instead walk down Front Street, cut down to Lafayette Street and cross Barracks Street to end up at the War Memorial.
